Trade SSA is an online trade and investment platform, designed to automatically connect businesses throughout Africa and the UK.
London, 05 September, 2018: Independent Lloyd’s broker AFL Insurance Brokers Ltd (AFL) is pleased to announce its selection as the Insurance Partner for the innovative online Trade SSA platform.
Launched this year as an initiative from Africa House London and Africa Trade Ltd, Trade SSA is a digital trade and investment platform designed to automatically connect users with buyers, suppliers and distributors throughout Africa and the UK. The platform has already attracted over 6,000 organisations from across sectors and industries.
Africa House London and Africa Trade Ltd are working in partnership to identify and onboard a select number of Commercial Partners for Trade SSA, capable of providing assistance to exporters.
AFL is a specialist in emerging territories, economies and industries. The company’s global network includes partner brokers in more than 500 cities around the world, including extensive coverage and long-standing relationships in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).
AFL’s network is enhanced through its membership of the Worldwide Broker Network (WBN), which is the world’s largest organisation of privately held insurance brokers, controlling premiums in excess of US$60 billion.
AFL Chairman Toby Esser said, “Experience, trusted advice, innovation and value are the hallmarks of successful international trade and risk management, and we are delighted that AFL has been selected as the expert Insurance Partner for the Trade SSA initiative.
The insurance industry essentially exists to facilitate and empower cross border trade; to support new business models and to manage the ever-changing risks faced in different sectors and geographies. But advising on managing these risks goes hand-in-hand with experience and in depth knowledge of the regulatory landscape in different territories, particularly in a rapidly developing regulatory environment. We look forward to further supporting the important work of Africa House and its partners, including future trade missions.”
AFL CEO Bob Finch added, “The continent of Africa clearly offers significant potential for future investment, with SSA identified as the second fastest-growing region in the world. Technology is of course playing a key role in the development of SSA, as it is globally, with upcoming generations embracing the digital age.
Digital platforms like Trade SSA are a key element in unlocking efficient processes and establishing new cross-border relationships. We are looking forward to harnessing our specialist knowledge in creating innovative new insurance products that facilitate stronger trade between the UK and Africa.”
Africa Trade Director Anthony Martin said, “We are excited to have partnered with AFL Insurance Brokers for Trade SSA. There are enormous market and investment opportunities across Africa, and we are committed to supporting growth in local and cross-border trade by offering seamless access to trusted, verified buyers, suppliers, distributors through the innovative Trade SSA portal.
We are confident that AFL’s experience and relationships in local markets, and ability to offer innovative, tailored insurance solutions, will be invaluable in helping Trade SSA companies across Africa and the UK grow to their full potential.”
