We are positioned to engage, and add value, at every stage of the design, build, delivery and performance management of the programmes and risk structures we handle. As such, we offer a broad, integrated value proposition to our clients.
Our Wholesale Practice has been built to assist with the placement of binders, facilities and open market business into Lloyd’s and the Global markets. We also want to look after the UK and European interests of your multinational clients; our Corporate Division has been established with this in mind.

The Worldwide Broker Network (WBN) was founded in 1989 by AFL Chairman Alec Finch and has grown into world’s largest fully integrated network of independent Insurance Brokers in the world. With members in over 100 countries, and over 500 cities, expertly and collaboratively handling over $40 billion in premiums, and employing more than 13,000 staff. WBN is a significant global force and AFL’s shared ownership allows us to offer a truly international service.
London & International Insurance Brokers’ Association (LIIBA) is the trade association representing the interests of Lloyd’s insurance and reinsurance brokers operating in the London and international markets.

Alec Finch, FCII, MCIArb – Chairman
AFL’s Chairman Alec Finch is a highly decorated pillar of the insurance community. He built his eponymous Manchester based brokerage over 25 years into a leading force in international insurance and during that time was the founder (1989) of what has become the largest network of independent insurance brokers in the world WBN. He was a visionary then and continues to enjoy a highly regarded reputation across the globe as an industry leader.
Bob Finch – CEO
An academic background in philosophy and a early career in underwriting complex financial lines business has afforded Bob a unique perspective on analysing risk and a rare appreciation for embracing challenge. Bob’s vision has always been to build a sophisticated brokerage capable of breaking new ground in industry standards and challenging perceptions of what it means to be a risk partner.
Keely Dalfen, ACA – CFO
Keely is a Chartered Accountant with over 15 years senior management experience in the commercial sector. Having qualified in private practice she specialised in change, risk management and corporate governance before realising her passion for working in entrepreneurial, fast moving businesses when she moved to AFL in 2008. As one of the founders of the business Keely was instrumental in establishing the finance department at AFL and has a strategic focus on growth in international and corporate markets.
Andrew Clowes – Director
Andrew has been honing his skills and creating bespoke insurance programmes in the London Market for over 15 years. He joined AFL in 2010 to drive the international wholesale capability, with a personal focus on facilities and binders. More recently Andrew has expanded this to include captives to allow for blended structures combining client risk taking and risk transfer.
Javier Llamas – Director
Javier has a diverse background having worked extensively within insurance broking, private banking and finance throughout Europe, most recently as a marine finance specialist. Javier joined AFL to drive the Private Client and Superyacht offerings forward and brings a privileged insight and experience to that client base having spent over 10 years providing finance solutions for global UHNW clients and securing finance and insurance for superyachts around the world.
Steve Vickers, ACII – Director
More than 25 years of international broking experience has instilled in Steve an obsessive approach to client service and professionalism. Steve is globally recognised by his peers in both the broking and risk management communities for his considered, detailed and practical solutions.
